Junior Sports News

Term 1 sport started with a bang with a number of teams kicking off on Friday night of Week 1.

The volleyball team (pictured) were the first to take the court in the program run at Unley High School. We had a narrow loss to Highgate but won plenty of points and had some terrific rallies. Well done to coach Aeon and the team!

Our summer netball teams resumed their matches on Friday night with some impressive wins and narrow losses:

  • The Netta 8s remain undefeated. Once they’d been prised away from the playground they put together some superb passages of play! A talented team with everyone contributing.
  • Only the fluky breeze at the Balmoral Road courts cost the Primary 5s a last-minute equaliser!

Basketball training started on Monday and our matches will begin in Week 3. The Year 5/6 Aerobics also got underway this week with fantastic numbers. Cross Country trainings will start next Monday morning before school.

It’s a huge term of sport at Loreto with our Swimming Carnival and Athletics Carnival coming up alongside our weekly sport:

  • A quick reminder to please return swimming trial/Swimming Carnival consent forms to either Molly Scott or myself

It has been great for me to meet a number of coaches, teachers, parents and students over my first week at the school. Already I can see that the girls are very passionate about their sport which is a credit to the culture Narelle and others have driven in previous years. Infectious enthusiasm at training, dedicated coaches, lots of support from families at games…brilliant to see.
