Faith and Mission

From the Mission Team

In our year of Justice, we take inspiration from our foundress Venerable Mary Ward and Mother Gonzaga Barry, who was tasked with bringing Loreto to Australia.  Both women faced many challenges in their mission, however both never wavered in their commitment to and love of God.  At all times keeping the dignity of the person was at the forefront of everything that they achieved. Countless people across the world, through the Loreto network, have been inspired and continue to be inspired to act by their legacy and it is through these actions that we can start to see real change.  Loreto has and always will be committed to Social Justice. Through The Loreto Justice Network, the Loreto community across the Province from Southeast Asia and Australia can be informed and called to advocacy and action on the Five Province Justice Priorities.

The Loreto Justice Network can be accessed here Loreto Justice Network.  Take some time to enter the action centres to reflect on what you may be called to do in this year of justice.

Faith Life

Declaring 2023 as the Loreto Year of Justice, staff gathered in the beautiful Acacia Gardens for a return to school liturgy where Principal, Dr Nicole Archard, lit the school candle as a symbol of our global Loreto allegiance. Staff were invited to wander through the gardens on a beautiful summer morning, enjoying the flowering hydrangeas and the many other scents and sounds, as they reflected on what the Year of Justice would mean for them on a personal, social and global level. Mary Ward’s words “To be seekers of Truth and Doers of Justice” added to our chosen Scripture Reading from the Prophet Micah (6:8) which directed us to “Act Justly, Love Mercy and Walk Humbly with our God”.

A whole school liturgy to mark the beginning of the 2023 School Year was held on the first day of the students’ return. Gathered as one community, students unpacked the Justice value before Senior School leaders unveiled their 2023 banners. As always, much thought, reflection and dialogue preceded the painting of the banners.  During the assembly Tahlia, our Head Girl, spoke about the process and how the value of Justice is reflected in the banner. This banner and the Boarder’s banner will both be on display during our Opening School Mass on Thursday February 13th, 12.20pm held in the Gym. All parents are welcome to attend.

Sacramental Program

Emails were sent out to all families during the week with information regarding the Sacramental Program for 2023. Students receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation in Year 3, followed by Confirmation and First Holy Communion in Year 4.  New students from other year levels may also join the program, but families must commit to preparing their daughters at home as all learning is completed in Year 3 and 4.

Inquiries have been made regarding the Baptism of girls in preparation for the Sacraments. If you are considering baptism for your child, you will need to contact St Ignatius Parish on Telephone:  8332 0600 of through

Project Compassion 2023 - For All Future Generations

As we approach the season of lent, we are reminded to take this time to think about those less fortunate than ourselves and support the work of Caritas through Project Compassion.  This years theme is “For all Future Generations” and despite having the same theme as last year, this years theme focuses on Mary’s great YES!  The yes that she spoke when the Angel told her that she was to become the mother of Jesus.

Our Junior and Senior Students are saying YES in this year of Justice and starting their awareness raising and fundraising for Project Compassion with a traditional pancake sale on Shrove Tuesday.
