2022 Academic Merit Ceremony

Congratulations to the graduating class of 2022 who were recognised at our Merit Ceremony on Tuesday afternoon as we celebrated their outstanding academic achievements. Congratulations again to Nicola Kefalianos, Dux of School, who gave an inspiring speech to our current Year 12 cohort and encouraged those who will follow suit in the coming years. We also congratulate Charli Lamp for giving a brave speech of how her resilience in the face of adversity allowed her to succeed in Year 12. We wish our 2022 cohort the best in their future endeavours and we look forward to seeing you all again at our Old Scholar events and watching you continue to be strong, passionate and confident young women!

Instrumental Music Lessons

Dear Parents and Students,

It is not too late to enrol in instrumental music lessons at Loreto College for this term. In fact, you are welcome to apply for tuition at any time throughout the year.

Learning a musical instrument has been proven to help improve cognitive skills such as memory, concentration and creativity, as well as emotional well-being. It reduces stress and promotes a sense of accomplishment. Furthermore, playing an instrument is a valuable social skill, allowing students to collaborate with others and perform together. It provides an outlet for self-expression and helps to develop discipline, patience and perseverance. These skills and benefits can carry over into other areas of study at school, helping students to become well-rounded and successful individuals. Research suggests that every student should consider learning a musical instrument as a way to enhance their entire education and personal growth.

If you are interested in instrumental music lessons, you can find all the information and application forms on Loreto connect : https://loretoconnect.loreto.sa.edu.au/homepage/7085

*please note - there is a waitlist on some instruments.

Year 7 Camp

The wild weather certainly didn’t dampen spirits on the Year 7 Aquatics Camp!

Being asked to pack their things and travel to Normanville for an Aquatics Camp during their first week of Senior School certainly put the students to the test. Whilst there was some apprehension before our departure, the students were quick to immerse themselves wholeheartedly in the activities on offer. The highlights being Snorkelling at Second Valley, Kayaking at Myponga Reservoir and Problem Solving Activities at base camp.

The experience was a fitting start to their Senior School journey. The students had ample opportunity to get to know one another and to work with different people across each home-class. Their genuine care, respect and consideration of each other was a pleasure to observe. These are the qualities that act like ‘glue’ within a group and which allow friendships to blossom.

The students came away with a smile and a real sense of achievement. There is no doubt that this experience has provided a wonderful foundation for the year ahead!
