Netball

Report from Ms Kreuzen:

A fantastic day in Inverell today. The year 8 girls played so strongly, winning all rounds to get to the semi finals. In the semi finals the girls unfortunately went down but played so well as a team and gave the opponents a run for their money. They got into the grand final for 3rd and 4th and ended up coming to a draw so played extra time for another 10 minutes. The girls pushed really well and after the 10 minutes they tied again! We decided to leave it as a draw due to lack of time and needing to get back home. We are so proud of how they played. Each of them took on feedback and implemented it in their play. A fantastic day for these girls.

The year 8 boys took on some tough competition but that didn't stop them. Their tenacity is to be commended. The boys have all learnt more about netball and did a fantastic job today playing as a team and encouraging their mates.

Both 9/10 teams made it through to the finals and went down. The boys went into extra time after tying but ended up going down by 6 in the grand final. The boys team was definitely a game to watch. Their pace on the court was definitely faster than their pace getting to class. But in all seriousness they are unreal on the court. If anyone ever has a chance to see them play it is definitely worth it. The 9/10 girls gave every team a run for their money. They played so well as a team and the subs always cheered and encouraged those who were playing. Unfortunately they went down in the grand final.

A huge shout out to Maddie Barnden-hyde, Georgie Schultz, Zoe Walters and Gabby Williams for umpiring for us today. The girls were only meant to umpire 3 games. They ended up either umpiring 6 or 9 games! A huge effort from our girls. Their confidence in calling shots and holding their own against players/coaches was fantastic.

Thank you to Mrs Burton, Mr Honeysett and Eliza for coaching and supporting the students today. It was a very positive and very smooth day.
