Technology & Applied Studies

An Ancient Indigenous Australian Craft but a new task for St Pius X College Students

Last term our Year 10 Design and Technology students put their Engineering and Design skills to the test.  The students tried their hand at creating boomerangs that could fly and then decorated them with indigenous designs.  The students enjoyed the challenge of creating a boomerang that could fly and some were successful at making their boomerang return.

It was pleasing to see the students embrace the project and especially to see their attention to decorating their boomerang appropriately. Mr Blake and Mr Formosa guided their students through the project and then took the boys to Beauchamp Park for a successful period of testing.

On a more current happening, our Year 12 Design and Technology and Industrial Technology Students are working fastidiously to finish off their Major Projects which are due for HSC marking in the near future. Our students' projects will be on display for all to see at our SPLINTERS, SPASHES, STAGE & SOUNDS show which is on Thursday 31st September.
