Mission & Identity
I hope the holidays were an enjoyable time for your son and that they were able to spend some time regaining some energy for what will be another busy term ahead of us.
On the last day of Term 2 the Staff attended their Spirituality Day which was a valuable time for us to focus on our 2017 Touchstone of Gospel Spirituality. Staff Pastoral Teams worked on incorporating our Scripture quotes into programs for each Year Group. Brother Michael Walsh (St Pius X College Principal 1986-1994) gave a very enlightening presentation assisting us in identifying the history and importance of Gospel Spirituality in the context of the St Pius X College community.
We have begun planning for many of our significant Mission and Liturgical events this term. The final Year 10 Reflection Day (25/8) and the Year 11 Retreat Day (4/8) will take place as well as the Year 12 Retreats (14-18/8), P&F Fathers' Day Breakfast (1/9) and one of our most significant Liturgies, the Year 12 Graduation Mass (22/9).
Mass will be celebrated at 8am in the College Chapel on the following Tuesdays in Term 3. All are welcome.
- 1st August, 15th August, 29th August and 12th September.
Youth Festival
St Pius X College has been invited by Bishop Peter Comensoli to attend the Australian Catholic Youth Festival (ACYF) in Homebush from 7th - 9th December 2017. This is an event for students in Years 9-12 and is a national gathering of Catholic young people which allows them to attend workshops and activities and discern their own faith journeys.
If you are interested please return the permission form in the attachment below to Mr Adrian Brannan.

ALPHA for Youth
In a joint initiative with Mercy College we have commenced an ‘Alpha for Youth’ series through our Chatswood Parish. Alpha is a relational program on intentional discipleship; basically it is a chance for our students to gather with Mercy College students of a similar age and discuss their faith, raise questions and doubts they may have and grow in fellowship and friendship over a meal and discussion.
The 8-week course is being held in the Chatswood Parish’s Bishop Barry Room, located on Kirk Street, on Wednesday afternoons after school from 3:30pm until 5.00pm. Each afternoon begins with a hearty afternoon tea and the students have a chance to self-direct the sessions through conversation in response to short inspirational videos. Late in the course there will be a one-day retreat to further enrich and deepen the experience.
The Alpha Course is also an opportunity for our boys to prepare for the Australian Catholic Youth Festival in December. The course has been promoted to Year 9 and Year 10 students who are interested in such an opportunity. For further information please click on the attached letter below. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have further queries.
