Welcome back and best wishes to all for Term 3. This is such an important term for all and especially Year 12 as they prepare for their Trial HSC and ultimately their Graduation on the last day of this term. Let us pray for all our students and the school community as we begin again after a revitalising mid-year break.
God of love and wisdom,
be with our students as they begin Term 3.
Bless them and their teachers and staff.
Give them strength, wisdom and knowledge
as they search for knowledge and understanding.
Help them to grow in skill and strength
and to know and love you better.

The school is in readiness for the return of students and staff and I particularly thank the Maintenance Team and the ICT Team for their efforts during the vacation break. You will notice the work from the Maintenance Team in the breakthrough entrance to the Drama Room and Chapel precinct.
There are two new water refilling stations for the students to use. These were suggested as environmentally sustainable chilled and filtered drinking water for the students. The aim is to reduce the use of plastic water bottles.
The Senior Library has been fully repainted. There is a new large Smart TV in the Junior Library as well as a trial version in Mrs Iwatani’s Year 6 classroom. There has also been much general maintenance completed at both Chatswood and Oxford Falls.
Monday was an important opportunity for parents, students and the teachers to have important conversations about learning following the issue of reports for Semester 1. The meetings went very well and assisted in setting important direction for the term ahead.
The College welcomes Ms Natalie Rocca (English/RE) and Mrs Amanda Fileman (Learning Support Teacher) who are joining us. Welcome back from LSL to Mrs Bryant (Visual Arts) and Mrs Bridie Barrett from Maternity Leave (Learning Support).
The Rugby tour was exceptionally successful and the 1st XV won all five of their tour matches in Queensland. They won the Division 2 Shield and were outstanding throughout their tour. Many thanks to Mr Matt Stearn, Mr Greg Virgona, Mr Sean Brannan, Mr Rick Russo, Mr Benn McBrearty, Mr Francis Cullimore and Mr Adrian Brannan.
Thanks to Mr Steve Quilty and Mr Simon Yue for organising the Old Boys and 1st XI Football match held at Oxford Falls on 11th July. For the record the Old Boys won 2-1.
The 1st XI also played in the inaugural July Cup in the holidays at Oxford Falls. More details can be found in the Senior Sport section.
Next Tuesday 25th July there is a fantastic evening for parents designed to assist in working with children in the area of Cybersafety. Please come along as it will be a most informative session. Further details can be found in the 'Student & Parent Matters' section of this newsletter.
Congratulations to Mr Francis Cullimore (First XV Coach) who has made it into the semi-finals of 'Australia’s Ninja Warrior'. We look forward to the next time he is on the show. Stay tuned!
One of the last trees of the Blue Gum Forest which once covered our site here had to be removed from the school yard last year for safety reasons. Our very talented maintenance staff kept one of the burls from the trunk and shaped it into an artistic bowl which will be on display in the Library. It was presented to the College at the first assembly for Term 3. I thank Mr Andrew Darbin for this beautifully crafted artwork.
The term dates for 2018 can be found below. These are still in draft form and are subject to change.
