Tennis workshops

Stephen Hoy from Zenith Tennis Academy located at Heathmont Tennis Club volunteered his time to come and introduce tennis skills  to our Preps and Grade 1 / 2 students. Assistant coach Luke Rees also assisted in the clinics. Tennis is a very social game that helps develop students' skills including  good hand eye coordination, agility, balance and striking skills. The students thoroughly enjoyed the clinic. If any students are interested in coaching at our  local club contact Stephen at stephen@zenithtennis.com.au

Ringwood District Swimming Carnival

On Monday 17th February, Marlborough Primary fielded a team of 6 excited competitors in the swimming carnival at Tintern Grammar in Ringwood East. Our students headed off to the sports just after lunch as we were scheduled to swim in the Warrandyte South District at 2.25 pm.

We assembled at the pool, dressed to impress in our bathers, caps and goggles and had a few quick laps to warm up. Tintern Grammar had a huge swim team, and the other schools in our division included Ringwood Heights and St Anne’s Primary Schools.

Despite having such the smallest team, we competed in every event: medley and boys relay, 50 m backstroke, freestyle and butterfly.

Most lanes were filled in each race so it really was an achievement to place in the top few.

Highlights included

  • Charlotte’s freestyle 4th , and a strong performance in the butterfly
  • Dove’s speed in the 50 m breastroke and close 4th in the freestyle
  • Thomas 2nd in the boys freestyle
  • Charlotte and Dove stepping up to race with Ryan and Thomas in the boy’s relay as we didn’t have enough boys to field a full team
  • Emmalea’s gutsy effort in the backstroke and the medley relay
  • Ryan’s fantastic diving start and strong finish in the 50 m freestyle relay
  • Christina’s finish in the 50 m individual relay

Everyone did their Personal Best and we were definitely the school that cheered and encouraged the teammates the loudest. It was a great day and I hope that we can get even more students to have a go next and make Marlborough proud next year!
