Heathmont College Sausage Sizzle Fundraiser

On Thursday 4th of May, we - Amy, Charlotte and Maddie, had the privilege of holding a sausage sizzle at Marlborough Primary School to fundraise for our World Challenge expedition to Thailand.  Off the bat we were overwhelmed with amazing support.  Staff, students and parents gave us many words of encouragement and even helped us prepare the sausages for the students as well as hand them out.  A special congratulations to Lenka from Prep A who won the jellybeans from the jellybean challenge!

A huge thank you to Mr McClare for giving us the permission to hold the sausage sizzle and for being so supportive of us!  All together the amount raised was $372!  An astounding amount that we cannot be more grateful for!  Your support and encouragement means so much to us.

Thank you to all who helped out - you've given us motivation we couldn't have received without you.

The Importance of Sleep

Sayembara Lisan- Indonesian Speaking Competition

Last week we had over 50 students enter Sayembara Lisan, an Indonesian Oral Competition, run in conjunction with VILTA (Victorian Indonesian Language Teachers’ Association) and the Asia Institute, University of Melbourne. It was an amazing effort to have so many students compete and congratulations to all of them. We had two visiting teachers, Bu Devathas from Heathmont College and Ibu Breen, from Great Ryrie Primary School, visit our school to judge our students as part of the Maroondah region. The competition included simple questions and the students either sang a song, recited a poem or read a passage in Indonesian.

I am very proud to announce that we have 10 students who have made it through to the finals. Congratulations to the following students:

Level 1

Scarlett B - Grade 2

Dove A - Grade 2

Oliver A - Grade 2

Ava D - Grade 1

Level 2

Indigo B - Grade 4

Oscar C - Grade 4

Level 3

Casserole Bank

We are in urgent need of more volunteers to:

  1. contribute a meal
  2. to take over the coordination at the end of 2017 & beyond

The Casserole Bank aims to have a store of meals kept at the school in the canteen deep freeze to assist families that may be struggling, going through a challenging time, have a new baby etc it is a wonderful way to support fellow Marlborough families.

Please consider if this is something you would like be involved with -  it is an amazing community service in our school.
