VCE Outdoor and Environmental Studies

In VCE Outdoor and Environmental Studies, we are lucky enough to experience a wide range of different activities and environments all with the aim of preparing students for their exam in Year 12.

Year 11 Outdoor and Environmental Studies-

Victorian Sailing School- Geelong

The Year 11 Outdoor and Environmental Studies students participated in a 2 day 'Learn-to-Sail Program' at the Victorian Sailing school in Geelong. On day one the students learnt the basics of Sailing and went out in the larger 8 person boats as the wind was quite strong. Day 2 brought about the students sailing the smaller 3 person boats by themselves (instructors and teachers in speed boats if required). This was a completely new experience for most students and everyone enjoyed the experience thoroughly.

Year 12 Outdoor and Environmental Studies

Brisbane Ranges

The Year 12 Outdoor and Environmental Studies students participated in the Brisbane Ranges Hiking excursion starting in the old gold rush town of Steiglitz. The purpose of the excursion was to give the students an example of how human relationships with outdoor environments have changed over time, in particular the gold rush period. The excursion is also important to prepare the students for the upcoming Multi-day hike on the Grampians Peaks Trail. All students enjoyed the excursion and were able to reflect upon the experience in preparation for their exam.

Grampians Peaks Trail

The Grampians Peaks Trail is an amazing Multi-Day hike through the picturesque environment of the Victorian Grampians. Throughout the 3 days students summit 2 peaks the Pinnacle and Mt. Rosea. It allows the students to experience multi-Day hikes and provides another practical experience to draw upon for their end of year exam. We had some really fine weather over the 3 days and all of the students returned with a better understanding of themselves and what they can achieve.
