Congratulations to Amro Ibrahim of Year 10 for his selection in the NSW Wheelchair Rugby League team.
Amro will represent NSW in the Interstate Challenge in Queensland this weekend (first weekend in June). This is a very special achievement for Amro. We wish him all the very best at the tournament and in his new sporting pursuit.
Jarrod Carluccio, Christian Caldarola and Sherwan Ismaeel Hasan represented Sydney South West at the recent Combined High Schools Boys Football Championships in Griffith. Sherwan was awarded the recipient of the Most Valued Player award for his team. Jarrod and Christian helped their team win the silver medal.
Jarrod’s outstanding performances were also recognised with him being named the Player of the Tournament.
Congratulations to all three boys for their fantastic efforts at the State Championships. They did themselves, their families and Cecil Hills High School proud.
Their individual successes prove that a student does not have to attend a sports high school to achieve great things in sport.
Forty six students represented our school at the Netball Schools Cup Gala day at Liverpool recently. We entered girls teams in the Year 7/8 competition and girls and boys teams in the Year 9/10 competition. All students thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
The girls' teams only lost one match on the day to Westfields Sports High School. The boys teams improved dramatically as the day progressed and their skill and confidence grew with each game. They had so much fun. They are so keen to play again next year. A big thank you to our senior student umpires, as well as Miss Fagan and Miss Preston for the time and effort they put into training, coaching and organisation.
The Year 9 & 10 winter competition is in full swing with all teams participating well. We are anticipating good performances and results from our teams in the winter competition.

Congratulations to our Opens Girls and Boys Football teams who were crowned Regional Champions this week. Both teams played outstanding at the central venue winning both their matches.
The girls were impressive with 3-0 and 4-0 victories while the boys won their first game 4-0 and came back from 1-0 down to "cross town rivals" Bossley Park to win 2-1 in extra-time.
Mr Alfonsi and I are delighted by the standard of football, attitude, school spirit, commitment and sportsmanship shown by both our teams.
Another proud Cecil day! They have now qualified for the final 16 series of the state-wide knockout competition and will travel to the Hunter region before the end of the term for their next match.
