Girls by Sonya Cardillo and Tiana Cupac Year 9

We have started off our U/15s competition with a bang! We have played two games and ended up with two big victories. Our first game against Hoxton Park resulted in an 11-0 win with many of the girls finding the back of the net. Our second game was against Holsworthy and after a tough start we managed to pull away for an 8-0 win with everyone playing exceptionally well and putting together a strong team effort. Everyone tried their best and played with heart and supported each other throughout the whole game. Shoutout goes to Izzy Rizos, our Goalkeeper who came up the ground for a penalty… Safe to say we will be leaving her in our own net in the future! (see Ms Miletic for footage) Great effort the girls and we look forward to our next game!

Boys  by Luke Scicluna Year 9

In Round 1 of our U/15s tournament we played Unity Grammar College. After a tough contest it came down to 2-2 in the second half until Milan Tadic scored a superb game winning goal to make the result 3-2. It was a great team performance which carried into our second round game against Thomas Hassall Anglican College. They started off strong and and looked a little classier than ourselves but we grinded away to be down 1-0 late in the second half. A late positional change took Jarred Mckinley up forward to put the finishing touches on a great build up play to beat the keeper and find the back of the net. That took us into penalties which we took out 6-5 to win the match!

Netball Gala Day

On Wednesday 24th May, 40 boys and girls competed in the NSW Netball Schools Cup. Congratulations

to our 9/10 Girls who were only defeated by Westfields, to both 7/8 girls teams who gave 100% all day and to the 9/10 boys team for trying something different and showing commitment to improvement. All of our teams demonstrated good sportsmanship and teamwork on and off the field throughout the day and we can't wait for next year.

Year 11 Crossroads

Crossroads is a mandatory program for students in Year 11 and or 12 in NSW government schools. Crossroads is designed to help senior students address issues of health, safety and wellbeing at a time when they face significant challenges in their lives.

Crossroads aims to prepare and support these students as they encounter situations related to identity, independence and their changing responsibilities.

In the last week of Term 1, Year 11 were given the opportunity to take part in the Crossroads program.

During the week, we had a number of guest speakers such as Brent Sanders, an ex-police officer, and Kate Fitzsimmons, Director of the Nicole Fitzsimmons Foundation, visit us to discuss various issues.

We were given in depth talks regarding travel safety, drug use, sexual assault and managing our emotions, providing us with extensive knowledge and useful insight into these topics.

In addition to the guest talks, we also participated in a number of physical activities throughout the week including wheelchair basketball, yoga, rock climbing, boot camp, boxing, and everyone's favourite, bubble soccer!

Overall, the Crossroads program not only enabled us to have lots of fun, but also allowed us to work as a team, try new things, and most importantly, learn useful skills that we will undoubtedly use within our lives.
