Bantry Bay - Year 11 & 12

Bantry Bay

Year 11 & 12 Earth and Environmental Science as well as Year 11 Senior Science had the opportunity to go to Bantry Bay, a bay located in the Garigal National Park in Middle Harbour within Sydney Harbour.

Students had the opportunity to discuss the geology of the Sydney region and examine the local sandstone rock using hand lenses and microscopes, to observe the particle sizes and shapes and to determine the conditions of deposition. Students also looked at the human environmental impact on waterways of two creeks in the area by identifying weeds, pH & phosphate levels as well as catching water animal indicator species.

Overall students had an enjoyable, productive and engaging day.
