Throughout the term, students in Year 4 have been looking at the fundamental needs humans have for survival. This has included an investigation of fresh water supplies, air pollution, how food is produced and what can be done to ensure a sustainable future.

As part of this unit this week, students have been studying the history of clothing and read about how it is manufactured and marketed. Classes used the example of a simple cotton t-shirt and read about each stage from growing cotton to the ways in which clothing is disposed of, once it has worn out. Students then mapped these stages using a life-cycle template and were required to think of sustainable alternatives. All of the children came up with some very creative and thoughtful alternatives which was great to see.

Gumboot racks

Here are some of the new gumboot holders kindly made for us by the Riddells Creek Men’s Shed. They are fantastic! But we still need many more broom handles in order to make enough for all of our students' gumboots.   Please can you help?
