Bring your pet to school day- By Olivia W, 5T.

I always wanted to take my cat to school. Now I can. But it has some (a lot) of faults. Rory is only a kitten, so he needs attention. When you try to give him attention, he runs away. Who needs an alarm clock when you have Rory! 5:30 AM is when he starts to wake you up. He will pounce on your feet. Then, he will sit on your bladder. If that still doesn’t get you up, it is time for the face. Sniffs and licks, and a few pounces of your stomach or back should do the trick, he thinks. Oh boy, he is right. Then, you go down to feed him. He just keeps screaming. You look in his bowl. No more jelly from his jelly meat. It has been about a minute, and all the jelly from his meat is gone. Just ignore him. That is mission impossible. He has found a scrunched-up piece of paper. Or, maybe, if you’re lucky, a bell! Ding! Ding! Scrunch! Scrunch! He wants to play. After you find one of the many toys he has hidden, he has either run away, or it is time to get ready for school. Rory takes up about an hour. And that is just in the morning. School time! Rory thinks otherwise. In his mind, he only knows a few words. Eat, sleep and play. He thinks when you sit down, that means playtime! Typing, reading, looking up a random word by accident... wait... why did I look up a random word? Oh yeah. Rory exists. It is time for an hour of living bullets. Crash, bang, and while we are at it, wallop. If he isn’t sleeping, he is scooting around like a fish on wet ice. Or, begging for food. And, something very rare, he is begging you to put up a little tent made of blankets to sleep under. If you don’t, he will punish you. To him, punish means sleep on your work. When you are trying to eat lunch, he will get his little pink nose out, and sniff something. He can smell food. He will either stare into your soul; or hop onto the table. The next bit, I must check in with Rory to see if he wants me to leave this out. No? Okay. It is nearly 3:30. He hasn’t disturbed you for what, 2 hours? That is a lot for Rory. Oh no. He has woken up. 3...2...1... POUNCE! That is a big cloud of paper. Half an hour. Couldn’t he have waited half an hour? Okay. My turn. After about a month, we worked out how to distract him. Paper! Scrunch up half a piece of paper, and he goes mad. Until he knocks it under something. Now, it’s time for the drying rack. He jumps up. He wobbles. And... he needs rescuing. Luckily, its 3:30, so I can finally give him my full attention. But as he is the most annoying cat ever, he is asleep. Now, I know why only schools in stories have bring your pet to school day.

Here's an idea from Max C

Max became inspired by a post he saw from a friends son who goes to school in Tanzania. The students were challenged to stay united by finding household items in their house colours.

Max really wanted to do the challenge too as he misses competing for his house so much and loves the house activities throughout the school year.

Another way to feel connected to school without being there. I think Max is issuing a challenge here. If I get enough of these we might have to begin its own House Challenge page. :-)

Bear hunting by Ellie

How about going on a bear hunt (or a rainbow hunt)?  Apparently there are a few of these posters up in the local area. When you're out exercising keep your eyes open.

Diviya making red velvet scrolls

Year 4s began their first full week of remote learning with a Reading session. The teacher’s hope in creating this session was to not only encourage reading, but to relate the reading task to the students and their current experiences. With that, the students read a Herald Sun Kids article on the teddy bears being placed in the homes around Australia to raise hope, love and a united front. Once read, one of the tasks was to create a poster with their personal message to their neighbourhood. As you can see we live in such a beautiful world!
