Wellbeing Corner

We are still here!

It’s a weird time for my one-man faculty and I’m a little lonelier than I thought I would be. I haven’t bothered to put on make-up or carefully chosen my outfit to impress Mr Morison and I’m still deciding if it’s okay to let things like that slide.

I have discovered that a huge amount of my work takes place as informal chatter with staff and students and I have lost my ability to notice things about you given I cannot see you anymore.

I miss you wandering into my office, hiding in my meeting rooms, dropping in for a chat, collecting food when you forgot your lunch, spinning in the egg chair even though I told you not to and making up reasons to stay a little longer.

But I am still here!

I am still working, still caring and still supporting. I want to know what you have been doing to pass your time, see the work you have been completing, hear you complain about your newly appointed teacher “Miss Mum” and get your recommendations for Netflix. I want to know if any of you have worked out how to “DIY manicure” or cut your own “iso bangs”. I want to hear about your good, your bad and sit with you through the unknown of your current situation.

Let it be known I have laughed, cried and eaten birthday cake in the bath while I tried to navigate my way through mine.

It’s okay to miss things, to acknowledge ‘what sucks’ and to sit with those feeling for a little while. It’s okay to be frustrated with those who ‘don’t get it’, you are right, ‘they don’t’, because it is your reality, but be mindful that they have their own too.

We are still working, still learning, still missing you all.

We are still here!
