Public Speaking - Years 5 and 6 Only

Public speaking preparation will be take place in classrooms over the next few weeks. The children will work on their speeches in class as part of the English Peaking and Listening syllabus. Speeches will be presented in class Week 8 and 9 of this term. Each class will then select three students to present their speech in the finals for Stage 3 Tuesday 24 September (Week 10, Term 4) in the hall. 

Year 5 students are required to speak for 3 to 4 minutes and Year 6 students for 4 to 5 minutes.

One student from each grade will be chosen to represent St Joseph’s at the South East Primary Cluster held at St Joseph’s Primary School, Bulli on Wednesday 23 October (Week 2  - Term 4)

NRMA Science and Road Safety demonstrations

On Monday 23 September the NRMA Science and Road Safety Program will be visiting St Joseph’s to provide the students with valuable information around the What, Why and How of Road and Bike Safety.

Students are invited to bring their bike helmets to school on the day, to practise how to fit them correctly.

Student Absences

Compass is now used to notify parents of unexplained student absences. Please see the attached information for further information on how to notify the school of any unexplained absences. 

Parents are able to advise WHOLE DAY ABSENCES ONLY through Compass.  

Summer Uniform Change over

Students changed from Winter to Summer uniform from last Monday. Parents may use their discretion as to which uniform their child/ren wear in the 2 weeks following the change-over should the weather be too cold or too hot.

Girl's School Uniform

Summer

Blue school pattern tunic, white above ankle length school socks,  black polishable leather shoes.

Sports

Navy shorts, school sports polo shirt with crest, school tracksuit (jacket and pants), white above ankle-length socks and predominantly white joggers with white laces. 

Note: The sports jacket is only to be worn on sports days with the sports uniform. On very cold days it may also be worn with the summer or winter uniform but over the school sloppy-joe. The school sloppy-joe should be the first choice for warmth.

Boys School Uniform

Summer

Grey shorts (not cargo type), blue short-sleeved shirt with school logo, grey socks, black-polishable leather shoes.

Virtual Classrooms Activity - Yrs 3-6

Tomorrow students in Years 3 to 6 will participate in Virtual Classrooms as part of the celebration associated with Child Protection Week. This presentation will focus on a range of issues related to the responsible use of digital communication and will supplement our Catholic Education (Diocese of Wollongong) Technology Policy requirements.

Thank you to all Parents who have registered and paid for their child to participate.  Test dates are noted in our 'Dates to Remember' tab

All login/passwords will be allocated to students on the day they sit the tests by the school.  

Book Covering Volunteering

We are fortunate enough to have hundreds of new classroom readers which need to be covered before they can get in the hands of our young excited readers. 

Come and pick up or sit and cover in the Library whenever you are available.   All help is greatly appreciated.

Coles Little Shop 2 Promotion

If any parents shop at Coles and do not collect the Little Shop 2 Collectables, kindergarten teachers would love to collect these shop items to use in a kindergarten play centre next year. If you receive these as part of your shopping at Coles and do not want them can you donate them to kindergarten. These can be sent to the office or to the kindergarten classroom. Many, many thanks!
