Happy Father's Day to our Wonderful Dads

I hope that Sunday was a day for all of us to be grateful for Dad's or those men who are significant in the lives of students. We are very blessed to have fathers and grandfathers who are so present in our school community and who contribute towards making St Joseph's the great place of learning and faith that it is.

A special mention and cheer for Father Patrick on Fathers Day. He is one of those significant men in the life and faith formation of all of us. We thank him ever so deeply for his presence and care at St Joseph's.

What Should I Do If My Child Is Returning To School With A Significant Injury?

The care and safety of a student with a significant injury while at school is important.

Parents of a student who has sustained an injury such as a broken arm,  leg or leg or foot injury  requiring a boot or crutches, and cannot participate in normal school or sport activities, must present the school with a Medical Certificate signed off by a Third Party Medical Practitioner prior to returning to school.

The certificate must state that the student is medically fit for school, the activities he/she is able to participate in and the activities the child should not participate in.

Once the certificate is received the school will conduct a risk assessment for the student before the child can return to school.

The Risk Management Plan will remain in place at school until a further medical certificate is provided clearing the student to resume normal school activities.

Yes, You Can Make a Difference!

Western Sydney University Study

St Joseph’s is partnering with Dr Caroline Mills from Western Sydney University in a research project related to sensory processing in primary aged students from Kindergarten to Year 4.

Sensory processing involves the processing of information from the environment through the senses, for example, sound, vision, touch, taste, smell, and movement. Difficulties processing sensory information can result in difficulties in classroom participation and success for some children.  All K-4 students are invited to be a part of the study.

The study involves you, as a parent or carer, completing two short questionnaires about your child, which will take no longer than 45 minutes of your time. Please see the attached participant information sheet.

If you are interested in participating, return the attached consent form.  In exchange for your participation, you will receive a short summary about your child’s sensory processing.

National Child Protection Week is a campaign held annually across Australia to raise awareness of child safety and child abuse prevention.

We reaffirm our commitment to the protection of the children and young people in our care. We strive also to support all of our students to learn to develop respectful relationships with others.

National Child Protection week occurs between 1 and 8 September.

You are invited to get involved with National Child Protection Week this year and play your part in creating safe and nurturing environments for all Australian children. Remember…

  • By building stronger communities, we can create safer environments for children
  • We all have a role to play in protecting children from harm
