5/6s

Week 8

With remote learning coming to an end this week, the Grade 5/6 students should be proud of their effort and resilience during this time. They continued to complete regular classroom activities with a growth mindset. Throughout the term, students have participated in academic and social meets with their peers. A focus of these chats were independent writing and providing feedback using the language of the 6 + 1 Traits of Writing.  This week, we heard that there were some fancy dress meets in 5BC and 5LC. Below are some snapshots of the fun that happened!

5BC looking fancy!

5LC looking fabulous!

Over the last few weeks in Maths, the Grade 5s worked on posing questions and collecting data. They successfully navigated the Graph Creator Website to represent the data that they had gathered. Below are some examples of these carefully-planned graphs!

Arlyn from 5BC carefully tracked her and her Mum’s alphabet writing!

Harry from 5BC collected the data from a sit up competition with his brother, James!

Bea from 5LC collected data on the highest and lowest temperatures from January to June in 1975, she used the BOM website to collect this data.

Max from 5LC collected data on the rainfall in 2019 at the Flemington racecourse, he used the BOM website to collect this data.

Again, the students should be proud of their persistence and achievements during remote learning. We are incredibly excited to welcome the students back at school next Tuesday.

Regards,
