Kharisma Kids - OSHC

In the last week of Term 3, our numbers at Before and After School Care have slightly grown.   This is the last week of Free Childcare as the Government has announced that from July 12th the free childcare subsidies will stop and the CCMS (Childcare Management System) will start up again. This means that you will still be able to access subsidised childcare depending on your family income as you did before the COVID-19 lockdown.

Our Fees have slightly increased as per the start of Term 2 schedule.  Typical cost after the subsidy will be approx. an increase of $1 per session.

In the Garden

We have completed planting out our two garden beds with more silver beet and cauliflower.  They are coming along nicely and are sprouting above the pea straw that we laid to keep the weeds at bay.

We also re-dressed our scarecrow with some winter clothes.  Hopefully he will keep an eye on our veggie beds and protect them from any wild birds.

New Staff Member -Kylie Fruhwald

We welcome Kylie Fruhwald to our team.  Kylie has worked at Timbarra OSHC for many years and has helped us out as a Casual / Emergency for shifts when ever any staff member has needed to take some time off.    Kylie is qualified with her Diploma in Children’s Services, First Aid, Anaphylaxis Management and has her Working with Children Check.

Breakfast

Due to COVID-19 we stopped serving breakfast for health reasons.  We will start serving breakfast again in Term 3. Firstly we will offer cereal and fruit at Before School Care and as restrictions ease we will be able to offer toast.  We have taken the opportunity to give the toaster a service and a new thermostat while it hasn’t been in use.  We look forward to serving full breakfast as soon as we can.

Construction Week

The last weeks we offered the children the opportunity to play with construction toys and games as well as participate in some open ended craft.  Giving children the chance to experiment with construction allows them to discover through trial and error.

Trial and error is a problem-solving method in which multiple attempts are made to reach a solution. It is a basic method of learning where children learn new behaviours. Trial and error involves children trying a method, observing if it works, and if it doesn't, trying a new method.

Vacation Care:

Unfortunately, due the Government announcing school going back so late in the Term, it was not possible for us to organise the Program for these Holidays.  We will definitely be back to offering Before School Care, After School Care and the Vacation Care as from Term 3 2020 (July 13th)
