Afternoon Collection During Week 5, we are very conscious of the large numbers of children using Kiss and Drop. We have experimented with earlier pick-ups and staggered times, with varying levels of success. Early collection was cutting into learning time and the afternoon lessons were less successful with large numbers of students departing early. From Week 5 and if successful, hopefully for the remainder of Term 2, we will run Kiss and Drop from 3:10pm.

The afternoon bell goes at 2:55pm and Kiss and Drop will commence at 3:10pm, once the buses have departed. We are hoping that this will clear Moore Creek Road, reduce the congestion between buses and cars and give parents more time to get to school in the afternoon. Children will be supervised at all times.

3:10pm Kiss and Drop: Prep, Kinder, Year 1 and their siblings

3:20pm Kiss and Drop: Year 2 to Year 6

Things to note:

  • Collect your child at the designated time, do not delay, this will cause undue congestion, the year groups have been allocated according to the number of students requiring collection.
  • Please do not arrive for Kiss and Drop until 3:10pm
  • No Primary School Children are to be collected from the gravel car park
  • You may overtake in the Kiss and Drop Lane, if instructed by a staff member. Please check behind you before pulling out.
  • Children will only be allowed to enter vehicles from the curb or rear of the car. Not the drivers side.
  • Students will be loaded into cars, the full length of the Kiss and Drop Lane
  • Year 2 to 6 students may want to snack on something whilst waiting, if they are in the later Kiss and Drop Group
  • The afternoon is a busy time in the office, if you are changing the departure arrangements for your child, please do this before 2:30pm, to ensure the message is delivered on-time.
  • All children must be collected by 3:30pm

WEDNESDAY: National Simultaneous Story time We will be reading Whitney and Britney Chicken Divas by Lucinda Gifford on Wednesday with many many other school children across Australia. Students may bring in a 'diva' accessory to wear after morning tea, when we read the book, to help them get into the theme of the book. Think sunglasses, fedora, fancy hat, feather boa, bright scarf, glitter hat, bow tie, necklaces, crown, chicken mask...  the possibilities are endless. NSS is all about the promotion of reading in young children. See more information here: https://www.alia.org.au/nss

Rob Marchetto, our Director of Quality Teaching and Learning has written about the importance of reading with your child. Please take time to read his suggestions in this Newsletter.
