Whole School Concert

The Whole School Concert will take place on Friday, 18th August at 6:00pm, in Cuff Hall, showcasing all of our BMGS Junior and Senior music ensembles. Come along and enjoy a fabulous night of music and student achievement. Refreshments from 5.15pm in the Senior Library Foyer (upstairs Pitt-Owen Building).

Students' Rehearsals for Whole School Concert

  • Thursday, 17th August.  Junior School (Springwood) students will travel to Wentworth Falls for a joint Junior School music ensembles' technical rehearsal in Cuff Hall. 
  • Friday, 18th August, from 12.10pm to 3.00pm:  all Senior School musicians are to meet in Cuff Hall for the Senior School music ensembles technical rehearsal. 

Years 9 and 11 Excursion, Sydney Symphony Open Rehearsal

Next Wednesday, 2nd August, Years 9 and 11 will travel to the Sydney Opera House for an open rehearsal of the Sydney Symphony, conducted by Simone Young. Students are asked to meet Staff in the PAC Carpark at 7.45am for a prompt 8:00am departure. All details are on the excursion note. Calling all High School Songwriters!

JMC Academy is proud to announce the 2023 songwriting competition for students across New South Wales, ACT, Victoria and Queensland in years 9-12. The aim of the competition is to highlight the talent of high-school songwriters from across the country and to showcase the creativity of young people.  Amazing prize for the winner valued at over $2,500

  • Recording, mixing and mastering session of your original song with JMC ACADEMY audio engineers in our recording studio, with professional feedback consultation*

*You can record this individually as a singer/songwriter or with your band (up to 5-pieces).

Queensland Conservatorium Jazz Weekend

Jazz Weekend 2023 is open to primary, secondary and tertiary students who have at least two years of experience (AMEB 2 and above) up to advanced performance levels.

 

The weekend focuses on Jazz Ensembles and Big Band, along with instrument tutorials, an open rehearsal (plus Q & A) with The Con Artists and Dr Stephen Newcomb plus a Jazz Elective Session including improvisation, sight-reading and rhythm sections.

 

Queensland Conservatorium's Head of Jazz Dr Stephen Newcomb and jazz virtuoso and educator Dr Simon Petty are leading the weekend alongside leading jazz educators and performers.  This will be an engaging, educational and skill-building weekend for students interested in expanding their jazz skills.

Jazz Weekend Instruments

Trumpet, trombone, bass trombone, saxophone (alto, tenor, baritone), piano/keyboard, bass (electric and acoustic), drum-kit, guitar and auxiliary percussion.

Sydney Symphony Young Musicians Workshop 

Applications for the Sydney Symphony Young Musicians workshop are now open. Be inspired by the incredible talents of the Sydney Symphony and 2023 Fellowship as they lead students to discover powerful orchestral masterpieces and take a deep dive into the final elements of performing a major work.

 

Dates: Wednesday 27 September – Friday 29 September 2023

Venue: Parramatta Marist High School

Cost: $150 per student. 

Families sending more than one child can take advantage of a discounted rate.
