NAPLAN RESULTS 2023

NAPLAN 2023

Murrumbeena Primary School is enormously proud of the outstanding NAPLAN results that our teachers and students achieved together this year. The result overall is a strong source of evidence for our high-level teaching and learning program, not just for the assessed students in Grades 3 and 5, but across the school.

One of the ways that we measure the relative success of our results is against a group of “similar schools”, as well as against the rest of the schools in the Stonnington and Glen Eira (SAGE) network. Using the below measure of the percentage of students who achieved results in the “strong” or “exceeding” NAPLAN bands (the top two out of 4 bands), Murrumbeena outperformed or was equal to both SAGE and similar schools means in all assessed areas.

We use this data formatively, identifying areas where we can support our students further and where we have room for improvement. Of course, we are very aware that young children have good and bad days with formal assessments. As a result, the school does not put too much focus on any individual student’s performance on NAPLAN. On a cohort wide level, however, this data becomes a more robust measure of the impact of teaching and learning programs in our school. The school is very pleased to receive these strong results as validation of our hard work in improving teaching and learning at MPS.

Congratulations to all our students on their determination and effort in NAPLAN 2023.
