Children’s Book Week

Book Week is fast approaching! Before we know it, we will be in Week 7 and our Book Character Parade will be on.

August 21st-25th is Children’s Book Week, with a theme of ‘Read, Grow, Inspire’. During the week there will be competitions and lunchtime activities related to the theme and the books on the shortlist.

The most important part of our celebration is the Book Character Parade on Friday 25th August.

Students are asked to come dressed up on the day up as their favourite book character. At the start of the day students in F-6 will be involved in a parade around the Brigidine Centre to some great music. Parents and carers are welcome to come and enjoy our parade. The weather is still quite cold so you might need to send your child along with a change of clothes or additional clothes for the rest of the day.

There are many simple costume ideas out there on the internet but we have included some here. Simple coloured t-shirts linked to a book or character, can work really well.

In the lead up to Book Week, students will listen to all six books on the shortlist most relevant to their age range and then vote on their favourite. Our vine covered voting wall (pictured in our banner photo) is ready. At the end of voting we will reveal the CBCA judges' winners which will be announced on 18th August.
