STAFFING UPDATE

This week we welcomed Amy Wildner our new business manager to the school.  You will see Amy in the front office be sure to pop your head in and say hello.

Marjorie Brophy has finished her time after many years supporting the school with some business manager duties.

NAPLAN

By now grade 3 and 5 students should have received this years NAPLAN results that were sent home.  NAPLAN was conducted earlier this year in order for school to get the results sooner to assist and inform schools about students strengths and weaknesses.

Students this year were graded against 4 new proficiency levels.

Exceeding- The student's result exceeds expectations at the time of testing.

Strong- The student's results meet challenging but reasonable expectations at the time of testing.

Developing- The student's results indicate that they are working towards expectations at the time of testing.

Needs additional support- The student's results indicate that they are not achieving the learning outcomes expected at the time of testing.  They are likely to need additional support to progress satisfactorily.

SOMERS CAMP

Yesterday I got to visit 20 of our grade 5 and 6 students that were attending Somers Camp. They were full of smiles doing such activities like, giant swing, flying fox, making a fire and cooking damper, environmental studies, bike riding, archery and boating.  Some had made new friends from other schools and a couple were already a little sleepy some late nights of chatting apparently lol.  I look forward to speaking with them on their return next week and provide more information about their experiences in the next newsletter.
