WORK EXPERIENCE

Work experience is the short-term placement of students with employers to provide insights into the industry and the workplace in which they are located. Students are encouraged to organise their own work experience placement early so that they have the greatest chance of securing their place of choice.

  • It provides students with the valuable opportunity to:
  • Develop employability skills.
  • Explore possible career options.
  • Understand employer expectations.
  • Increase their self-understanding, maturity, independence, and self-confidence

Term Three School Holidays - Final day to return work experience arrangement form Friday, August 25

If you need assistance in making arrangements, please contact Ms Dimasi prior to the above date.

VCE REGIONAL EDUCATION SUPPORT NETWORK (RESN) PRESENTATION

RESN’s is a free online learning platform that aims to counter disparities between regional and metropolitan education resources and improve academic outcomes for students. Our organisation is staffed entirely by passionate university student volunteers, who coordinate a network of over 100 high-achieving tutors with study scores above 40. Our tutors have a strong knowledge of the VCE syllabus, confident teaching methods and a passion to relay knowledge in a way that is engaging and informative for students. Our services are designed to reinforce and complement in-class learning and provide more out-of-school opportunities to consolidate students’ understanding of the syllabus.

Our suite of services is completely free, and is composed of:

  • RESN Help: an original question-and-answer service, where students can submit a question or unmarked essay and receive a detailed answer from our tutors within 24 hours.
  • RESN Learn: a resource database where students can preview, learn, and revise syllabus content with our custom content summaries and practice questions.
  • RESN Live: subject-specific tutoring sessions with high-achieving tutors, and rural and regional peers, over Zoom.

In particular, the RESN Help platform effectively builds students’ confidence through detailed explanations of concepts, personalised essay feedback and answers to any queries regarding life after university. RESN’s median response time to Help questions is nine hours - this efficiency helps minimise students’ stress and reduce the marking burden on teachers during time-strained periods.

In Person Presentation: Monday, August 21 – lunchtime in the Seminar Room, Library.

FLINDERS UNIVERSITY

Flinders University will once again be offering uniTEST to your current Year 12 students as an entry pathway for 2024.

uniTEST is an aptitude test that has been developed to assess the kinds of generic reasoning and thinking skills that underpin studies at higher education and that are needed for students to be successful at this level. uniTEST is offered to your students at no cost and they cannot be disadvantaged by participating

Selection Process

Flinders University will select applicants based on both their Year 12 results (60% weighting toward the ATAR selection rank) and uniTEST results (40%). Flinders will also consider applicants based on their uniTEST results (100%) as a standalone entry score (subject to SACE completion and any course pre-requisites or specific admissions requirements).

Delivery Mode

The college will administer the online delivery of uniTEST, under examination conditions, on Wednesday, August 23, 2.00-5.30pm in Q5.
