Pre KInder and Kinder

Pre-kinder & Kinder April Newsletter
During the month of April, we combined the children together in the kinder room so that we could all play and learn together! We all went to the kinder room where we have been making a whole new routines because of COVID-19.
Outdoor play
We have been engaging a lot in our outdoor environment and making it a nicer and aesthetic area to learn and play in. For example, the children have been witnessing the flowers, the parsley and chives growing in our barrel and have been helping water them in the morning.
The children have also been picking up brown leaves and noticing how they are falling off the trees because Autumn is here as we start getting ready for the cold season.
We have had lots of fun with our muddy puddles on rainy days and I was really impressive children being aware of putting their gumboots for messy play, jackets and hats/beenies.
We have been making great use of our natural materials that we are now engaging with such as leaves, sand (with some food colouring), twigs and rocks for our Art and crafts. For example, we made a beautiful rainbow out of natural materials and decorating the rocks with washable paint.
Sustainability
As we become more conscious of the world we live in and how to be respectful and kind to our Fauna and Flora, the children went to pick some flowers for our indoor area. The teachers asked the children if they would like some plants indoor and the response was positive. We therefore grabbed some small pots and children had a range of herbs to choose from. We are now growing some Parsley, chives, rosemary and thyme. Thank you to our educator Sarah who also brought some pumpkin seeds from her home that have now sprouted in our jar! The children are showing amazing remembering skills when they come in every morning and ask if they can water the plants.
To keep extending on our good practices, we are now explaining to the children how decomposition happen with the fruit skins, paper or plastic. We have been recording answers to prompt children's understanding and knowledge and will review them as the things start to compost and break into pieces.
Easter celebrations
Who doesn't love a cute bunny!? At our kinder, we have been lucky to see a wild bunny coming for quick visits in our outdoor yard. The children were getting very enthusiastic about Easter and getting the chocolates as well! So we decided to make them even more stoked by organising an Easter hunt for them. The children grabbed their baskets and in pairs walked in the room to find all the chocolate eggs that they got to take home as well! We also made an Easter basket with little chicks and eggs, we made some Easter bunny but the children said "they look like dogs, Sandrine!". What a fun day it was!
