Dear Parents and Carers,
This week we continue with the theme of Mary the Mother of Jesus. October in the Catholic tradition is the month of the Rosary. The Rosary is a repetitive prayer designed to calm us down, as we meditate. It was designed by St. Dominic to assist the majority of people in the Middle Ages, who could not read or write. The mysteries of the Rosary, enabled people to know important events in the Gospel.
Station Number Four - Jesus meets his Mother
Miriam-Rose
Jesus, you feel so alone with all those people yelling and screaming at you. You don't like the words they are saying about you, and you look for a friendly face in the crowd. You see your mother. She can't make the hurting stop, but it helps to see that she is on your side, that she is suffering with you. She does understand and care.

Today we welcomed 42 new Foundation students for their first transition session to St Fidelis. We welcomed 18 existing families and 24 new families to our wonderful community. Over the next month, the new Foundation students will come to school for four transition sessions to spend time in the classroom and to experience different aspects of school life. During these four sessions, the parents will meet with members of the leadership team to hear about Literacy, Numeracy, Wellbeing and other aspects of life at St Fidelis.
The beginning of Term 4 signals a changeover of uniforms for all students. Given our unprecedented cold weather students are permitted to transition from winter uniform to summer uniform. The expectation is that all students will transition to full summer uniform by Monday 31st October. If there are any issues with the wearing of the school uniform please send a note to the classroom teacher or Principal.
This a reminder that our SunSmart policy begins in Term 4. St Fidelis students will be required to wear a hat that protects their face, neck and ears (legionnaire, broad-brimmed or bucket hats preferred), whenever they are outside. Peak caps and visors are not considered a suitable alternative. Please ensure your child has his/her hat at school when they return to school. All staff and parents are encouraged to access the daily local sun protection times via the free SunSmart app, or at sunsmart.com.au or the widget on our website.
The students are getting very excited and practising very hard for their item for next week's Whole School Circus Performance. Please read the Deputy Principals section of this newsletter for ticketing information and other important information regarding next week.
Mick Jennings will be absent from school for the next six weeks. Mr Jennings is undergoing hip surgery. We pray that all goes well and a speedy recovery. We will have a replacement teacher for Physical Education during Mr Jenning's absence.
Congratulations to Katie and Anthony who were married over the weekend. We wish them both a happy and healthy future together.
THEIRCARE (Outside School Hours Care), will offer full-day care on Monday, October 31st (Pupil Free Day) and Tuesday, December 20th (Pupil Free Day) if families require the service.
The office is open daily to receive school fees. I understand we were unable to collect fees on the last day of Term 3 due to staff shortage however, we are now open. Anyone with outstanding fees, can you please finalise your fees this week as fees are required for the general running costs of the school. Thank you kindly.
Have a great week,
Manuela
