STEP UP – JUNIOR SCHOOL
In Weeks 9 & 10, all Junior School students will be stepping in to their classes of 2023, meeting their new teachers, Year Level Leaders and classmates and learning about next year’s subjects. The two-week STEP UP program will focus on skill building and mastery to ensure student readiness for learning in 2023. Teachers will also take the opportunity to outline the Key Knowledge, Skills and Assessment Tasks of each subject, and commence coursework. The Yr 9s will have their first introduction to the expectations and arrangements of Senior School. Each subject teacher will set a core coursework task during STEP UP to gain an early insight into their students’ strengths and needs. Some teachers will also set holiday homework. These tasks will be clearly communicated to both parents and students.
In the lead up to STEP UP, our current Yr 9 students will receive their 2023 subject allocations during a year level assembly on Thursday 10th November, P4. Following that, Yr 9 students can submit a subject change request at the Senior School Office, up until Monday November 21st. Our current Year 8 students will also receive their 2023 subject allocations in Connect next week. They too will have an opportunity to make subject change requests for their elective subjects. Students will have until Monday November 21st to submit these subject change requests to the Junior School Office. Forms for these subject change requests will be handed out during the assemblies. Students need to be mindful that not all subject change requests can be accommodated owing to timetabling considerations. They will receive final confirmation of their subject allocations at the commencement of STEP UP.
Student timetables will appear on Xuno just prior to the commencement of STEP UP. Students will need to check Xuno and Year Level TEAMs closer to the date for important information regarding STEP UP.
The STEP UP program will end with our annual Colour Run on Friday 9th December, which is a fitting lead in to the fun end of year engagement activities in Week 11.
We wish all our students the best as they prepare to make this transition to the next year level.
Yr 7 Camp
We know that many Yr 7s are looking forward to the Yr 7 Camp – only three weeks to go! Students have already made their cabin requests and cabin allocations should be announced next week. So that students are prepared for all camp activities and weather, we encourage them to check the ‘What Should I Bring to Camp?’ list that was handed out in Connect. A reminder that all camp payments, permission and medical forms need to be finalised by Friday, 11th November.
