Principals Report

- Sarah Rose, Principal

I hope everyone enjoyed a restful mid-term break with the extra-long weekend and are feeling refreshed and energised to see out the second half of the term.

Since the last edition of the College newsletter we've had plenty of activities across the school.  A couple of highlights were the Yr 10s running their Marketplace stalls which brought the entire college together and was a wonderful atmosphere to a part of.  You can read more about it and see photos in the Senior School section of this edition.

It was also great to see our Year 12s relax and have some fun before commencing their study leave and exams with costume day, their final day of classes that included breakfast with the senior school staff and a graduation assembly with the whole school assembly, followed by a day out at Funfields.

We've also had students attend camps and excursions such as the Year 11 Environmental Science camp to Queenscliff and our Year 8s heading into the city for the Performing Arts excursion to ACMI.

Covered respectively in our Junior and Senior School sections of the newsletter are details of upcoming exam periods for our Year 11 and Year 10 students as well as the Step-Up process that we're looking forward to for all year levels.

Although at the moment it's hard to believe we'll get much of a summer that we're accustomed to, we take very seriously the fact that the College is located in a bushfire risk zone, and as such have to maintain plans for the eventuality of a bushfire occurring during school operations.  With this in mind, we recently conducted a Shelter in Place drill which was conducted with staff assigned as formal observers to take note of things that could be improved in the planning of such an emergency.  This process was successful and no doubt quite interesting for students who had not been part of such a drill previously.

While this term is a period of consolidating learning, finishing off assessment tasks, and looking ahead to the new academic year, it's not a time to relax our expectations about behaviour and uniform.  As a College we pride ourselves on our values, one of which is Respect - that being respect for ourselves, each other and our environment.  I ask that our whole college community support each other in ensuring we uphold this value whilst at school and when representing the College in the community.
