Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Families and Community members,

Welcome to Term 4!

Great to see the return of our students and staff this week after recharging their batteries over the break.

Did I mention how GREAT the Geelong Cats WIN was??!!! (couldn't miss an opportunity) GO CATS!

Term 4 is always action packed and this one will be no different. From our End of Year Event, camps/excursions, Transitions to Graduations; these is a lot to come!

Year 2 Sleepover

With excited smiles, our Year 2 students left their families overnight for our annual sleepover, on the final evening of Term 3.

Loaded up with sleeping bags, students skilfully unpacked their belongings and setup their sleeping areas in Southside.

Students enjoyed meeting different staff to practise team building activities including parachute games, disco dancing and playing in the Secondary 'Tower Zone'. Our school values of Care, Commitment and Collaboration shone through as students played and worked together.

During dinnertime, students practised eating using kind manners and talking with different friends. After changing into pyjamas, everyone snuggled up and enjoyed a movie before finding their sleeping bags for a good night’s sleep.

Our sleepover aims to build relationships across the cohort and encourage students to develop independence and resilience. Congratulations to all students and staff involved. What a wonderful way to celebrate the end of Term 3!

We are very much looking forward to celebrating with you all at the PACC Community Event on Friday the 18th of November!

PACC is seeking the school community’s support to help with prizes for our school celebration raffle which will be drawn on the night.

Each family will soon be receiving a book of 10 raffle tickets to sell at $2 each - these will come home with the eldest student in each family next week.

PACC is seeking the following donations for the raffle:

We have already received some great vouchers and items and PACC will be able to advise the prizes in the next week or two.

All donations are very much appreciated and we thank you for your ongoing support!

New Portable Coming Monday!

Please be aware that this Monday October 10th, the first of our 2 new Portable buildings will be being delivered.

I'm informed this will have little to no impact on traffic in the area but please be aware this is occurring. Our staff car park closest to the Community Centre will be out of action for the day, as will the small oval where our students in Grades P-2 often play.

Curriculum Day - October 28th

On Friday 28th of October we have our final Curriculum Day for 2022. No students are required at school on this day, however, the YMCA will offer a Curriculum Day program for interested families.

On this day our staff will participate in some high quality and highly valuable training in relation to 'trauma informed care/practice'. Some people may have heard of 'Berry Street training' which is highly regarded by schools who already have this in place.

Thanks to additional funding from the Department of Education through the new 'Mental Health Fund Menu', we are able to provide this training our staff which will consist of 4 days between now and the end of next year. Some this will be done during future Curriculum Days and some of during school meeting time.

Public Holiday

The Geelong Cup Public Holiday is held on Wednesday the 19th of October & there will be no students/staff at school on this day.

Melbourne Cup Day is a regular school day for all staff & students.

Naming of Uniform Items

A friendly reminder to please make sure all uniform & personal items are clearly named so that if they are found that can be easily identified & returned to the correct child as soon as possible.

Creek Coin Reward

These very VERY patient girls waited all of Term 3 to cash in their Creek Coins for a special morning tea with Kathryn.

Their even more patient teacher Laura had been reminded daily of this event!! We finally coordinated ourselves for the last Wednesday of Term 3.

What a gorgeous group of friends and students. They continue to show all the values of our school – we are very proud of them.

Not to be outdone, Mason managed to tie me down for a morning tea in the last week of Term too. Due to his patience, I even allowed him to have a 'special request' for the menu and as you can see Cheezels were his choice!

Take care and enjoy!
