Gippsland Round Athletics- Newborough.

On Tuesday 6th of September 15 students represented Maffra to compete in Gippsland round of athletics at Newborough. It was great to have this opportunity again to compete with schools across the region. Students competed in great sportsmanship and supported fellow competitors especially on the long jump creating a great atmosphere. Congratulations to Jayde Parsons, Kasey Svenson, Emily Svenson and Blade Johnston who all came first in their event and qualified to compete at state level in October. 

Jayde Parsons came first in all her events shot put, 100m, 200m and discus in which she broke the Gippsland record throwing  33.74m passing the record by over 3m. 

Kasey placed 2nd in hurdles and 1st in triple jump with a jump of 8.81m. Emily placed 1st in high jump with a jump of 1.4m , 1st in long jump with a jump of 4.38m and 2nd in triple jump. Blade placed 1st in the 400m, 3rd in high jump and 

We also had some other student collect medals on the day with Jena Hargreaves placing 2nd in hurdles. Henry Noble placing 3rd in triple Jump, 2nd in shot put and hurdles, Nadia Rush placed 2nd in hurdles, 3rd in 800m and javelin and Joel Pettigrew-Hughes placing 3rd in 400m and 2nd in hurdles.
