Principal's Report

Mrs. Jennifer Roep

Principal

Dear Families, Students and Community Members,

As we conclude Term 3, I would like to congratulate all of our students on the number of activities and opportunities they have been involved in throughout the term. It has certainly been a term that reflects what school was like pre-covid. No doubt everyone is looking forward to the 2-week break. On behalf of the staff, I would like to wish Ms. Jessica Sabourne all the best as she takes maternity leave and, in the weeks ahead will welcome her first child into this world. We are also farewelling Mr Tony Germaine who has worked as a specialist IT Technician at our school, and local primary schools in the network, for the previous 10 years. Tony has taken up a position at an accountancy firm where he worked previously before joining the DET Information Management and Technology Division. Ms Ashlee Williams will be returning next term after taking the term off to travel. Mr Riley Shefford stepped in as the Year 7 Coordinator in her absence and we are appreciative of the support he has provided to our students and families throughout the term. Next term, Mrs Kim Gardiner will be stepping away from the Year 10 Coordinator position and we are fortunate to have Mr Brett Hudson, who is very experienced, taking on this position. Finally, Mrs. Cheryl Evans will be the Acting Principal for the first 2 weeks of Term 4 while I take some leave. Thank you to all the parents/carers who have booked in for the Student Led Conferences this week. It is a great opportunity for you to see the learning growth your child has made this year and hear what they are proud of and the next steps in their learning. No doubt there will also be some conversations around learning behaviours that may require further development over the coming months to enable each individual to maximise the learning opportunities they are presented with. If you have been unable to book a time this term for your child’s SLC, please liaise with the staff member your child has been allocated to. It is an expectation that all students will complete this and any students who are unable to have one with their parent/carer present will undertake a SLC during recess/lunchtime with a member of staff next term. I hope everyone has a safe and relaxing break and next term we look forward to the carnival day in week 2 which has been organised by our student leadership team and also a reminder that the day before cup day (Monday 31st October) is a school council approved student free day. Year 12 exams will still run at Memorial Hall as scheduled, and all students with an exam on that day will need to attend.

Kind regards, Ms. Jennifer Roep
