Dear Parents and Carers,
I'm not sure that anyone expected the final week of Term 3 to be impacted by flood water. I hope all families are safe and hopefully we will get to see everyone before the end of term.
This week will also see the national day of mourning for the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, being held on Thursday. As such, the school will not be open on Thursday, allowing for the commemoration of Queen Elizabeth's life.
If your family is impacted by the floods and you would like your child to complete school work while they are at home, a learning matrix has been sent to each family via Compass. There is a learning matrix for K, Yrs 1 and 2 and one for Yrs 3-6.
This Wednesday we were to host the Small Schools Public Speaking Competition. We have decided to postpone this event until Term 4 with a date to be advised, so all students can maximise their participation.
With the weather starting to warm up, all students will be able to begin the transition to the summer uniform. Students may wear either the winter uniform or the summer uniform but not a combination of the two.
For families of students in Years 5 and 6, please remember that final payments for the upcoming Canberra excursion are due by this Friday 23 September (the final day of Term 3). If you have any concerns please contact me at school. Also an information letter will be sent out on Tuesday 20 September outlining what your child will need to bring for the excursion.
We will have our final Staff Development Day for 2022 on Monday 14 November (Week 6). This will be a day when staff will undergo professional learning and therefore will be a Pupil Free Day. Students will return to school for Week 6 on Tuesday 15 November.
Socktober is an annual fundraiser for Catholic Missions and is held each October. During this time fundraisers are held at the school to as part of our contribution to Catholic Missions. For this year we will participate in the following events and ask that students bring in a gold coin donation for each event:
Friday 14 October - mufti day
Friday 21 October - coin trail (please bring in any coins that you have from home so students can make the longest trail).
Friday 28 October - crazy sock and hair day
Happy birthday to Evie Watt (11 years old) and Willow-Rose McKay (10 years old) who celebrate their birthdays tomorrow. We hope you enjoy your day!
Lastly, our Kindergarten transition will continue from Week 1 in Term 4 for students commencing Kinder in 2023. Transition will conclude on Thursday 10 November (Week 5). On this day we will have a special assembly for our transition students at 2:30 pm.
If you know of anyone who is intending to enrol at Sacred Heart either in Kindergarten for 2023 or any other year group, please encourage them to contact me at school.
Take care
Kath Baird
