Lunch Orders Days

Lunch order day is every Thursdays and our students really look forward to their lunch orders. Please ensure you have put your child's name and grade and the correct monies in the bag. Lunch orders are not made at school, they are sourced out to upper Yarra Secondary College. Payments for your child lunch need to be put in the bag on the day.

An important notice for term four – It is time for the school hats to come out of the cupboard. We are a sun smart school and the Education Policy of ‘NO Hat NO Play’ applies this term. If you have not found your child’s school hat, they can be purchased through the office.

Sun protection tips for parents & carers

For the best protection use all five forms of sun protection – clothing, sunscreen, a broad-brim hat, shade and sunglasses – when the UV is 3 and above.

Please note: Some people (such as transplant recipient patients, people with compromised immune systems and genetic skin cancer risk) are at high risk of skin cancer and may require additional sun protection and early detection strategies specific to their health needs. Please consult your doctor for specific health advice.

1. Slip on sun protective clothing

2. Slop on SPF30 (or higher) broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen

3. Slap on a sun-protective hat

4. Seek shade

5. Slide on sunglasses

Mobile phones at school

We have noted an increase in students bringing personal mobile devises – particularly smart watches – to school.

While we acknowledge the benefits of devices in keeping children safe while travelling to and from school, the Department of Education and Training have a mobile and personal devices policy which clearly states that they must be switched off and securely stored during school hours. This includes devices with ‘safe mode’ or ‘school mode’ capability.

At Launching Place Primary School, students hand these devices in to their classroom teacher or the front office at the beginning of the day and they are stored securely until home time.

Students are permitted to wear devices such as Fitbits and Garmins which do not have internet connectivity, photographing capability or cellular access. We have spent time going through this policy with students so that they are clear on our processes and the reasoning behind it; to ensure we can focus on learning, follow the correct procedures for seeking help and support, and to help us feel safe and maintain student privacy.

Please find our full policy on our Website and contact the school if you have any further questions.
