From the Classroom

Foundation

I have received positive feedback already regarding homework practices after our Parent Teacher Interviews.  Suggesting the use of a whiteboard has been a success with many families as it allows your child to take a greater risk when recording learning. Errors can be quickly erased and corrected.  Using a whiteboard for practice of writing sight words, cvc words or counting is strongly recommended.

This week our sound focus has been the double consonant “ss”. For example, less, mess, hiss, kiss, miss, boss, toss, fuss. Say the word, listening to the sounds, counting each sound on our fingers, as well as recording them on paper and a/or whiteboard has been a daily task.

We have also been looking at our money system this week with the introduction of our six coins. Posters have been utilised to demonstrate the order of value.  Thank you to Alexis for bringing in some money from other countries for Show and Tell.

Some children have also began returning Concert Bags.  Please have these back by Monday.

Please remember your nightly routines can impact your child’s performance at school the next day. After a week of swimming and adjusting our routines to daylight savings, some children have come to school over tired.  As a result, social and emotional skills, as well as resilience can be very challenging in our whole class setting. With our concert next Thursday night, Friday will be a test for all of us!
