Principal's message

October 2022

Welcome to our new-format school newsletter

This will be the first of fortnightly school newsletters providing important dates, information, as well as reports about recent activities and initiatives in our classrooms, student wellbeing space and broader school community.

These newsletters will be provided through the school website (https://www.lynallhall.vic.edu.au/) and will be sent out to parents/carers as a link through Compass.

We encourage members of our community to access our school newsletter as a way of remaining aware of important dates and information.

  • We are advertising externally for a Learning Specialist - Instructional Practice.
  • We are advertising internally for a Learning Specialist - Learning Interventions.

I'd like to acknowledge and congratulate the recent staffing appointments.

  • Sascha Surgey is the successful applicant for the position of Acting Assistant Principal - Support and Resources, and Assessment in 2023.
  • Ben Forbes is the successful applicant for the position of Acting Assistant Principal - Teaching and Learning, and Engagement in 2023.

  • Genevieve Dubois has accepted the position of Mental Health Practitioner.

Staff moving on

  • Bella Ganino has accepted a position at another school for 2023. We thank Bella for the positive contributions she has made to the school over the past two years, including  her commitment to the learning and wellbeing of our students. We wish her well.
  • Linh Duong will also be taking leave for the duration of 2023.

Staff returning

  • Nim McIntyre returned to work at the beginning of Term 3, and is with us on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • Clare Callinan will be returning from mid November.

MoRE Pilot Program

LHCS has been selected to be involved in the MoRE (Modelling Respect and Equality in Schools) Pilot Program. The program aims to promote healthier masculinities and identities, and to reduce gender based violence. This will commence in 2023.

Differentiated Support for School Improvement

We are currently involved in the Differentiated Support for School Improvement (DSSI) initiative, which will continue throughout next year. Two regional 'Teaching Partners' are working with the school to help us reflect on our teaching practice and support us in developing a unique LHCS teaching and learning model.

End of Year Activities

Due to a number of factors we have made the decision not to run our proposed whole school camp at the end of this year. We understand that this will disappoint many students (and staff members) and we look forward to running a number of whole school camps in 2023. Instead of a camp this term, we will run a number of end of year activities for students.
