Students will also be successful if they are able to demonstrate locomotor and non-locomotor movements.

Year 3 and Year 4 – Music (Performing Arts)

Your student’s teacher is Alison.

During term one, year 3 and 4 students will be exploring the question “When is a creative piece ready for performance?” Working through a graded recorder program, students will learn skills, techniques, and processes in order to perform the pieces successfully. Students will also reflect upon the quality of their music beyond the learning of the notes. They will ask themselves, “Is this piece ready for performance?” as they also explore the expressive musical elements of tempo, timbre, and dynamics.

Year 5 – Music (Performing Arts)

Your student’s teacher is Alison.

During term one, year 5 students will be exploring the question “How can we connect as a community through learning the ukulele?” Practising skills, techniques and processes, students will learn - how to hold the ukulele, name the strings and the parts of the instrument, how to read a chord chart and how to use various strumming techniques. Students will also discuss and reflect upon various community connections such as smaller classroom learning communities, playing together as an ensemble, performing for others, and making connections with other musicians such as outside community groups, or friends and family.

Year 7 – Music (Performing Arts)

Your student’s teacher is Alison.

During term one, year 7 students will be exploring the question “How can we connect our class, school, and the wider community through music?” As they begin the unit, students will focus on a self-directed learning cycle, which sees them set individual goals, take-action, reflect upon their learning and continuously reset goals towards learning a musical instrument of choice. Students will then come together to play as an ensemble and develop skills beyond the individual musician. In the last part of the unit, students will focus on performance, and explore how they can connect with their audience members beyond the learning of the notes, through the use of expressive musical elements such as tempo, timbre, dynamics, articulation, and musical arrangement.
