Praying for those in need
In recent months we have seen an increase in the number of people contracting COVID-19, fires in Western Australia, the eruption of a volcano which has particularly affected the country of Tonga and unrest in Afghanistan, Russia and Ukraine.
Let us all take time to pray for the families here in Australia and around the world who are facing hardship due to illness, the loss of loved ones, the loss of homes or businesses and particularly for those living with the threat of conflict in their region.
God of hope and mercy,
we lift up to you all victims of disasters
and those responding with assistance and aid.
Protect all who are in any form of danger;
provide practical help to those in need;
strengthen the weary, console the grieving, heal the suffering;
and bless those engaged in disaster relief efforts
with safety and courage.
Help all people of good will respond
with compassion and generous hearts.
Almighty God,
you are the only source of health and healing.
In you there is calm, and the only true peace in the universe.
Grant to each one of us, your children,
an awareness of your presence,
and give us perfect confidence in you.
In all pain and weariness and anxiety
teach us to yield ourselves to your never-failing care,
knowing that your love and power surround us,
trusting in your wisdom and providence
to give us health and strength and peace
when your time is best;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
