Visual Arts

What's going on in the Art Room?

It has been so wonderful to welcome our children back into the art room this week as I am excited for the opportunity of a new year to welcome creativity.

I look forward to working with our Visual Art Captains, Ella and Avni, to hear their ideas and get their assistance in preparing for classes and displays around the school. I met with them this week and their eagerness to be involved and help lead the program is inspiring.

At the beginning of this year every student will be involved in making a whole school collaborative artwork which uses Bunjil (the Aboriginal Eagle) as inspiration. In a couple of weeks you will see Bunjil come to life on one of our display walls in the school hallways.

Art Smocks

Some of the work that our students complete in the art room can get a bit messy at times. Therefore, it is really important that each child has their own art smock to protect their school uniform from damage. The school uniform sells smocks that are very good quality and are reasonably priced. If you already have a smock at home or an alternative smock (eg. old shirt or t-shirt) that will protect your child's clothes, it is okay to use that. If now smock is supplied, you run the risk of your child's uniform becoming damaged. Please ensure that the smock is clearly labelled with your child's name and class.
