A Message from the Principal Team

Welcome Back

The year is new. Shoes are shiny, and all the lunch boxes have lids! Everything is bursting with possibility. It has been wonderful reconnecting with students and families this week and hearing stories about your summer holiday activities, aspirations and focus for 2022.

I believe 2022 will be a fabulous year for Great Ryrie PS, with emphasis on the learning growth of each student, along with strengthening our wellbeing practices and continuing to nurture our strong atmosphere of community engagement.

Foundation Fun

There were a few tears and tantrums, well just from the parents......... as the children of Foundation 2022 eagerly entered their classrooms for the very first time.

With brand new uniforms and squeaky, clean shoes, the brightness only outshone by their beaming smiles, proudly carrying school bags filled to the brim with snacks and books to share.

They have settled in like little champions and enjoying all that school has to offer. Thank you for entrusting them in our care. We look forward to sharing their journey with you.

All our classrooms were humming along with learning starting from Day One.

In the words of Dr Suess

You're off to great places ,

Today is your day!

Your mountain is waiting,

so.... get on your way!

School Leaders

The 2022 School Captains have been working behind the scenes today, talking excitedly about their goals, making plans for school assemblies and their year ahead.

Due to the restrictions our normal school operations are slightly adjusted until Week 4 of the term. Hopefully we can return to assembly with parents and the community involved very soon. There will be a Leadership Presentation Morning organised as soon as the restrictions allow. This will be an opportunity for families to be part of the formal badge presentations and share a morning tea.

Exciting Developments

Surprise, surprise..... Joanne from the office has been working her magic through the holiday break to bring about some bright changes. Very soon the refurbished library with a lick of paint, brand new carpet and colorful, new furniture will be revealed. The doors will be going in next week to complete the new flexible learning space.

Car Park Care

Can I please ask parents to take extra care when dropping off and picking up students. Greeting our students at the gate each morning, I also observe how busy Great Ryrie St and the lower car park becomes. Please be patient, cautious and kind in your vehicles at drop off and pick up time to ensure the safety of our children.

Mobile Phones

If your child brings a mobile phone to school, please remember to remind them that they must be handed in to their classroom teacher in the morning and collected from them at the end of the day.  Also note that this also applies to APPLE or SMART Watches, that have the capability to make or receive phone calls during school time.

Sun Smart Slip Slop Slop.....

Term 1 is a Sun Smart term. Protective hats must be always worn outside. If students are not wearing their hats, they will be asked to sit in the shade. Wide brim hats, which are part of the school Uniform Policy can be purchased at the Uniform Shop.

Eager Learners

In the eagerness to return to school I have noticed children arriving earlier than 8:45am.

Classroom doors are open from 8:45am and children are welcome to enter and be greeted by their classroom teacher.

If families require earlier drop-offs or later pick-ups, Team Kids run a before and after school care program for your convenience.

Have a wonderful weekend with your family and friends
