Well done to students in Years 8-12 who completed online learning last week. While it wasn’t the usual start to the school year, it was great to get into our classes and get started on our Term 1 work. Thank you to all the boys who behaved well and followed online learning guidelines and expectations.
By the end of this week, all boys will be able to see their assessment dates for Term 1. Boys can access these dates one of two ways –
During assembly time next Wednesday 16 February, the top ten achieving ATAR students from the Year 12 2021 cohort will be welcomed back to the College in order to recognise their outstanding academic achievements. At the same assembly, we will be celebrating our academic award recipients from Semester Two, 2021.
To be eligible for an academic award, students must achieve:
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this event will be live-streamed.
Over the next few weeks students in Years 7-12 will work with their Pastoral Group teacher on their monitoring program. This program allows students to reflect on previous academic achievements and set goals for the term ahead. Monitoring for Years 7-9 will occur next week (Week 4), while students in Years 10-12 will work on this during Week 5. The term goals will be written in each students’ diary in the format outlined below –
Subject | Previous result | Academic Goal Term 1 | How to achieve my goal | Result at the end of Term 1 |
| ||||
|
Each of the goals should be S.M.A.R.T (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-bound). We encourage you to talk to your son about his academic goals for Term One and how he plans to achieve these.
Over the break students in Years 8-11 may have decided to change their elective subjects that they chose last year. If your son would like to change his subjects please encourage him to see or email the people listed below:
All subject changes will need parental permission in order to be made. This can be in the form of an email.
All subject changes need to be made by Friday 18 February.
All boys should now have received their College laptop. If your son was absent yesterday, he can pick up his laptop from the Resource Centre (senior library). If your son did not receive a charger or a Stylus pen (Year 10 only), please also collect this from IT.
All new Year 7 students would have received their username and password today during their library lesson where they were shown how to log on to the various platforms (Moodle, Teams, email etc) required to access the curriculum. If your son is still having issues, please contact IT at computerservice@marash.qld.edu.au
Please remind your son that it is his responsibility to come to school each day with a fully charged laptop and that he takes care of the device at all times. It is recommended to transport the laptop in a neoprene case to avoid damage.
Study Hall will begin again next week (Week 4) and will run the Resource Centre on Tuesday and Thursday morning from 7:45am-8:30am. Please note Thursday’s session is a repeat of Tuesday’s lesson. These sessions are open to all boys from Years 5-12.
