Wellbeing

At St John’s we are a Positive Behaviour School. Within this, a significant value we share is respect for ourselves, respect for others and respect for property. These are outlined in our School Wide Behaviour Expectations and actively promoted in many facets of school life both in and outside the classroom.

Our School Wide Behaviour Expectations were updated last year with input from all staff and our student and parent representatives. Conversation starters you could have with your child about these could include:

  • How can you respect yourself?
  • What is bucket filling?
  • Why is respect important?
  • What are examples of ways we can respect property?
  • Which of the expectations do you think are your strengths?
  • Are there any expectations you want to work on improving?

Respect Awards

In further promotion of Respecting self, others and property, we will be awarding very special Respect Awards. Respect Awards will be given to nominated students who have displayed exceptional examples of respect either in the classroom or on the playground. To further acknowledge their positive choices, a photo of the student receiving the respect award will be displayed in the foyer as well as a description of their respectful choice. A huge congratulations  to our first recipient:

Lucas M (1/2KR)

Lucas has gone out of his way to make sure a new student in his class feels welcome and is keeping up with the instructions and routines. Thank you Lucas for showing respect to your peers!
