Round 1

Four teams from Mentone Campus competed in Round 1 of the DAV schools competition in the Brighton region. Results as follows:

A grade– Lewis Desmond, Sean Courtier, Chris Bufalo Year 12– won against Albert Park College by one point. Special mention to Chris who stepped in quite late to support the team.

B grade – Austin Warfe, Nathan Murphy, Musashi Roache in year 11– won by one point. Best speaker went to Nathan Murphy in this debate, and Musashi was also a late addition who stepped in after another team member was ill.

C grade – Liam Casey, Tom Gregory, Rory Tuke in year 10 – won by one point against Brighton Grammar. 

D grade team 1 – Harry McCawley, Tomas Polintan, John Carino in year 9– didn’t debate last night, they won by forfeit as Firbank wasn’t able to put a team up. It was impressive to see Harry and Tomas come along and support their friends nonetheless.

D grade team 2 – Ben Hall, Tommy James and Jack Weavers from year 9. Loss by one point – this was an incredibly close call by the adjudicator. The best thing to see was that these three students have developed in leaps and bounds from last year.
