It has been an exciting term in Middle School, as the students continue to shape their futures through the choice of their subjects and participation in personal development programs.
The term began with all Year 9 and 10 students partaking in a rigorous Course Counselling process, meeting several times with a member of staff to carefully determine their subject preferences based on future career aspirations and current levels of academic achievement. Excitingly, we have many students who have applied to do VET subjects and will be broadening their academic community beyond the walls of Reservoir High School. The Year 9s completed the Morrisby Profile, a career profiling platform which assists students in determining their career direction based on personal strengths, ambitions, and goals. We look forward to continuing to support students as they work towards their future beyond high school.
This term our Year 10 students participated in Teen Mental Health First Aid where they learned information about different types of mental health problems and mental health crisis situations in young people. In this course, they were taught about the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, as well as an action plan for what to do if they ever encounter a mental health concern in one of their peers. We are proud of the respectful way the students conducted themselves during these sensitive conversations and the way they continue to support each other at school.
As always, this has been another busy term for sport at Reservoir High School, with our Year 9s and 10s competing in basketball, table tennis, and badminton. We were able to celebrate our Year 10 Girls Badminton team, who came runner up in the state! Some of our Middle School students have also assisted with the organisation and umpiring of our local Primary School Sport tournaments, representing our school with pride and professionalism. Well done to all students involved!
Finally, last week the Year 10s took part in the Senior Diversity Dash. During this event, students ran or walked their way through a course that was spread out across KP Hardiman Reserve behind the school. Teachers and volunteer students had a lot of fun covering our Senior cohort in multi-coloured chalk as they went by. The event celebrated inclusive attitudes towards diverse cultures, race, ability, gender, and LGBTIQ communities.
The Middle School team would like to congratulate all students on another successful term, and we look forward to continuing to support the students as they complete the final term of the year.
Kind regards
