GREAT VICTORIAN BIKE RIDE

What a journey Footscray City embarked on for the Great Victorian Bike Ride. 23 students, 7 parents and 3 teachers completed a grueling 550km over the 9 day trip. From our starting point in Bright, we ventured through the hills to Beechworth with a tough 13km hill climb among the 66km second day.

Day 3 we completed a Beechworth-Milawa loop of 75km with an insane 3km hill climb which earned everyone award winning meat pies from the Bakery.

Day 4 took us on the beautiful journey from Beechworth to Tallangatta which consisted of 95km, we definitely treated ourselves to a dip in the Weir to cool off.

Day 5 the largest trek on the agenda, 102km from Tallangatta to Rutherglen where we spent two nights and had a days rest playing barefoot bowls, front flipping the diving board at the local swimming pool and eating more award winning meat pies.

Fully rested, day 7 was a short and sharp 56km to Yarrawonga along the Murray River, Lake Mulwala was the highlight for a beautiful cooling off spot.

Day 8 Yarrawonga to Glenrowan saw us travel 95km to see Ned Kelly and his gang. The finish line was close and the spirits were high.

Day 9 saw some riders hit with the elements to battle through to the finish line in Benalla with the shortest day of 52km.

Massive congratulations to everyone who completed the ride, with no injuries and all smiles the whole time.

The exertion on the body both mentally and physically was enduring. Everybody showed true grit and determination to get themselves over the finish line, a true credit to each individual's character.

From Martha, Aaron and Ryan we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did and we look forward to doing it again, bigger and better next year. Robe to Torquay, bring it on!
