Chaplain's Chat

This week
Term 4 – and it’s Fete Week! An amazing amount of time and effort by parents, carers, staff and students has been put into Saturday. It will be my first BHPS Fete, and I’m looking forward to being part of it! I was speaking with a friend who has recently returned from Africa, her home for the last 10 years. She has noticed how fast paced life is here in Australia, compared to Africa, and she feels people don’t seem to have much time to spend on investing in relationships. Despite all the hard work that goes in to a Fete, it is a wonderful opportunity to further develop and nurture our school community. I’ve watched parents work together learning to do face painting, seen emails between parents and staff regarding manning stalls over the day, staff (both past and present) coming together working on a common goal. This is all good!
This week, can I encourage parents and carers to have a look at the noticeboard outside my office for groups and programs that are being provided to support families in our local area? Parentzone Eastern Directory (put out by Anglicare each term), lists a whole range of services and information on groups and programs: Men’s Sheds, Dad support groups, playgroups, legal support, to but name a few. The link is https://www.anglicarevic.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Parentzone-Newsletter-Term-4-2016-1.pdf
It’s a HUGE pdf, but scroll through it to see what’s on offer. Alternatively, pop in or give me a call to ask me about anything in particular that you’d like further information on. I’ve attached a flyer to this newsletter on a Dad’s Matter group running through November at Bayswater. It will run on Wednesday nights from 7-9pm – well worth the effort to better understand the importance of being a dad!
Have a great week and see you Saturday!
