Principal's Report

Dear families
My name is Leanne Jennings and I am honoured and very proud, to be the newly appointed Principal of Boronia Heights Primary School. I am excited and look forward to working with students staff and parents to make Boronia Heights the school of choice in our community. My commitment to the school community is to lead the school with enthusiasm and a passion to enable us to achieve our goals. I am passionate about high level literacy capabilities and developing in our students a curious nature and a love of learning. My aim is to continue to instil in the students of Boronia Heights a belief in themselves, having a strong moral compass and are confident well rounded individuals able to strive to achieve their best.
I am very appreciative of the wonderful welcome I have received at Boronia Heights. Everyone, students, parents and teachers have gone to great lengths in sharing their knowledge of the school. It is easy to see that Boronia Heights prides itself on a strong sense of community fostering strong partnerships between the family and school and developing strong communication is paramount to students achieving their best. The students have been able to tell me about the grounds, their expectations and their favourite aspects of school. You should be extremely proud of your children, they have shown themselves to be really delightful.
I feel extremely fortunate to be part of this wonderful learning community.
Please take the time to introduce yourself and know that my door is always open to discuss any issues or concerns you have. I am looking forward to working with your children and to continue to contribute to building a safe, engaging, welcoming and dynamic learning community for all.
School Uniform
I have been really impressed in the way in which the students of BHPS wear our school uniform with obvious pride. They look terrific. Just a little reminder that hats are an essential daily wear for all students in Terms 1 and 4.
Prep Transition
Currently we have 80 Prep students enrolled for 2017. If you have not yet enrolled your students please contact the office for forms and return them to the office as soon as possible.
This Friday 7 October we are holding our first Transition session for our 2017 Prep students. These sessions are really important for the children as they orientate themselves to the school environment. Allows them to mix with friends from their pre schools, and to allow them to make new friends so the beginning of their schooling is seamless and familiar to them. I look forward to meeting you and your child this Friday.
Spring Fete
This Saturday sees our major fundraising event for 2016. I am pleased to announce that our fete is shaping up to be the must attend community event of 2016. We are looking forward to hosting a fun filled day of rides, spinning wheel prizes, fabulous food and an amazing array of creative stalls, there is something for everyone. The preparation by our Fete Committee has been amazing and I am really looking forward to seeing our community gather together and support our school. A fun day for all is guaranteed....so collect friends and family and come and enjoy our wonderful day. See you there!!
Curriculum Day
Please place on your calendar our final curriculum day for the year, Tuesday 6 December. Staff will be working on the new Victorian curriculum and planning for the 2017 school year.
Bike Ed
Even though it has been tricky with the weather, it has been wonderful to see our grade 4 and 5 students working on the maintenance and inspecting their bikes ready for bike education starting next week.
Sport
Good luck to our students who have qualified for the District Athletics. We are sending all our good wishes with you.
Hoop time is happening this week for our grade 3 and 4. Good luck in the finals and I know you will represent our school with honour.
