Cultural Experiences

Mobara Japanese Student Visit
On Tuesday 7 August Endeavour welcomed a delegation from Mobara, Japan. The College has been involved in this annual program for several years now, which is a key part of the sister city relationship between the Cities of Salisbury and Mobara, Japan.
After welcoming our visitors, our Year 9 Japanese students began to use their language skills as they participated in a variety of language games and activities, and shared morning tea with them. Then our visitors enjoyed a netball coaching session facilitated by Miss Schlicker and some Year 9 students, and followed this with an Aussie barbecue lunch.
In the afternoon our visitors did a presentation for middle years students of Japanese, sharing information about Mobara and aspects of Japanese culture like calligraphy, kimono and the story of Tanabata.
The day ended with lots of smiles and our students' understanding how important being able to communicate in another language really is. Many thanks to the staff involved in running the program, and to our students for stepping outside their comfort zones and being excellent representatives of the College.
