Year 12 (Unit 3 and 4) VCE

Holiday Revision:

The Knox Network of Secondary Schools have pooled resources to provide students with a series of revision lectures and high quality support materials to assist with preparation for the exams.  It is our expectation that all enrolled students attend the appropriate sessions.  The web links for each session have been provided on Compass and in the 2020 Year 12 Channel of teams.

Students have also received a pack of support materials to assist them with their study on the holidays.  These materials have been prepared by some of the top VCE presenters in the state and are an excellent additional support.

The Importance of Year 12 Exams

At this time of year we understand that the thought of exams for some students can be overwhelming and we get enquiries about whether or not they actually have to sit them. The exams are central to the integrity of the VCE and allow it to be the internationally recognised certificate that it is.

Exams are, by their very nature, anxiety inducing.  We really encourage students to think positively, the best way for them to manage their anxiety is to throw themselves into preparation.  We ask that over the next few weeks that parents encourage students to develop consistent study habits and to avail themselves of the enormous amount of support that is available to them.

The benefit of doing the exams, other than the actual consolidation of learning, is that students will have access to a far broader range of Pathways with an ATAR score.  Given the uncertainty of the economic situation we believe it is essential that students have as many Pathway choice as possible ahead of them.

GAT

The GAT is scheduled for Wednesday October 7 from 10:00am-1:00pm.  We suggest that students arrive 15-20 minutes early in order to get temperature tested, leave their electronic devices in their lockers and say hi to friends.

All students should have two hard copies of previou GAT papers to practice.  The answers to these can be found on the VCAA website.

Year 12 Tutoring

The uptake of tutoring hasn't been huge but we have had a number of students who are definately taking advantage of that opportunity.  As a result we will be offering tutoring for students again in term 4.
